Professor Peter Uwadiegwu Achukwu, a product of Government College, Maiduguri, is a Nigerian who was born on the 17th of May 1965. He has a Ph.D., MSc, B.MLS in Medical Laboratory Sciences, and an LLB, BL in Law. He specializes in Histopathology/Histochemistry and he is currently a Professor in both courses.
Dr (Barrister) Achukwu is a senior academic staff of the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Faculty of Health Science and Technology, College of Medicine, University of Nigeria.
In addition, he is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He has authored and co-authored many peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals. His research interests include Heavy metals toxicology in tissues and environmental bioremediation.
As an Associate Dean of FHST, he constructed a novel faculty car park and an eatery ‘Chitis’ which has become a relaxation point for students and teachers till date.
Professionally, he is an Associate Member Institute of Medical Laboratories Sciences (AIMLS), Fellow Institute of Medical Laboratory Sciences (FIMLS), etc. He has attended numerous conferences and has 105 Peer-Reviewed Scientific Researches.
Professor Achukwu’s vision as a dean-elect is to develop and maintain a conducive academic environment for both staff and students as well as to create a progressive dynamic environment and process that will produce quality healthcare givers in Faculty of Health Science and Technology (FHST).
