The members and National President of Alumni, International Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIIBF), Bayero University Kano, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Managing Director of Yobe Microfinance Bank Limited in Damaturu the State capital.
The National President Ahmad Suleiman Gimba and his team was well received by the Managing Director of the bank, Dr Muhammad Ibrahim and his management staff in his office in Damaturu.
In his address, the National President of the Islamic Banking Alumni expressed delight that for the first time a Managing Director with the background of Islamic Finance has been appointed to head the Microfinance bank.
Mr Gimba also called on the Managing Director, to use his talent and knowledge to initiate and apply viable financial instruments, as policies for the microfinance bank which is the closest financial intermediation facility to the grassroots population in the state.
He also advised the MD to enter into a partnership with major investors and entrepreneurs, agriculturalists and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) so as to maximize input and output plans of the microfinance bank, so as to yield positive results in this era of COVID-19.
In his remark, Dr Sheriff Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Muhajir expressed his thanks over the visit by the National President and his team of Islamic bankers. He promised to be very active, taking into cognizance the high percentage of poor people in the state. He pointed out that the state population was already disturbed by the unrest and now COVID-19 pandemic.
The MD also tasked members of the Alumni to move further along the direction of professional certifications, especially by obtaining Chattered Memberships of various financial institutions in Nigeria, or at the international level.
Dr Ibrahim also requested from the Alumni and the Islamic finance Institute for advice because the financial world is very wide. He maintained that he has an open-door policy, and he welcomes progressive advice which can help him to deliver excellent services.
He thanked the National President and his team for sparing time to visit him, despite their busy schedule. He further thanked the International Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance over their excellent services to Nigeria and the neighbouring countries.
