Nigerian heavyweights in the music industry, Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid and Tiwa Savage have been enlisted with other top African artistes in this year’s category of the Artist of the Year in the most prestigious continent’s music awards, the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA).
The organisers of the continental awards made this public on its official website.
According to the organisers, the epoch event which is slated to hold November 15th, 2020 will be done virtually observing the COVID-19 protocols.
Other Nigerian artistes Adekunle Gold, Rema, Fireboy were listed in the Best Male West Africa category alongside Davido and Burna Boy.
Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Simi Teni made the Best Female West Africa category due to their waves in the region.
In the Crossing Boundaries with Music Award category, Burna Boy, Davido and Mr Eazi got into the nomination list for their works in taking the Nigerian flavours outside the shores of the country.
The duo of Omah Lay and Oxlade was not left out in the Best Newcomer category while the international multi-award gospel singer, Sinach alongside Tim Godfrey, Mercy Chinwo made the list of Best Gospel category.
Also, Flavour, Burna Boy and Yemi are among contenders for the Best Live Act as well as Falz and Candy Bleakz were nominated for the Best Male and Female Rap Act category respectively.
Son of Afro-Juju legend Shina Peters and Nollywood veteran actress, Claron Chukwura, Clarence Peters alongside TG Omori, Patrick Elis, DJ Spinall, DJ Neptune, DJ Cuppy and DJ ECool is up for the Best Video Director category.
