Story from Sa’adatu MAINA, Damaturu
Fika Emirate Council in Potiskum town in Yobe State has conferred the traditional title of Kauran Fika on Air Vice Marshall (AVM) Abubakar Bala Bagare.
The Emir of Fika and Chairman Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers Dr Muhammad Ibn Abali Muhammadu Idrissa during the brief thanksgiving ceremony said the conferment and honour were hinged on Bagare’s love for the people, a track record of performance in his positions, and deep respect for the traditional institution in the State.
“The conferment was in recognition of Bagare’s immense contributions to the good fare of the less-privileged and development of the Emirate”.
“You have done a lot to the Emirate in terms of your contributions and commitments to our people, this is why we decided to honour you as Kauran Fika,” he said.
The Monarch, who spoke through the Galadima of Fika, Air Commodore Ibrahim Alkali (Rtd), however, described Bagare as a man of integrity, humility and vision.
He charged the appointee to discharge his duties diligently and become a good ambassador of the Emirate.
Responding, Bagare thanked the Emir for the honour of finding him worthy of the appointment and assured that he would not betray the trust reposed in him.
Reports show that Bagare was born in Potiskum on January 2, 1965, and was commissioned as a pilot officer in 1989.
He is the current Group Managing Director, Nigerian Air force Holding Company and had previously served as Managing Director, Nigerian Air force Investment Ltd, Director Budget, Acting Director Finance and Accounts, among others.
He is a fellow of Chartered National Accountants of Nigeria, a member, National Institute of Management and a fellow, Chartered Institute of Accountants and Administrators, USA.
