Armed bandits storm Kagara town, rob bank (Video)

Again bandits invade Niger communities, kill 1, injure many, kidnapped 63

Armed bandits numbering about 100 yesterday evening stormed Kagara town, headquarters of Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, and held the entire town down with their shootings.

An eyewitness, told newsmen, that the bandits who launched the attack, came in at about  4.00 pm with sophisticated weapons and were shooting sporadically into the air to announce their arrival.

The gunmen moved from shop to shop dispossessing the people of their belongings.

While the shop looting was going on, another group stormed a first generation bank in the town and forced their way in as the staff were preparing to close for the day and carted away unspecified amount of money.

A policeman and a bank security personnel were shot dead at the bank premises before moving into the bank to cart away the unspecified cash.

The local vigilantes in the town mobilized and engaged them, using Dane guns but could not withstand their superior firepower.

Many people were injured and are lying helplessly at Kagara General Hospital.
