The death has occurred of the Emir of Zaria, His Royal Highness Alhaji Shehu Idris, the 18th Fulani Emir of Zazzau and the Chairman of Zazzau Emirate Council and Kaduna State Emirate Council.
He was born on 20 February 1936 and ascended the throne on February 8, 1975 following the demise of Alhaji Muhammadu Aminu, the 17th Emir of Zazzau.
While an official announcement is being awaited, palace sources told Neptune Prime that he died at the 44 Military Hospital in Kaduna.
Janazah prayer will be conducted at 5pm in Zaria today.
