A man identified as Mr Matthew Ejembi has called off his 11-year-old marriage with his wife Ayisha Ann after discovering she lied about studying Political Science at the University of Abuja.

Ann who barely finished her secondary education at Government Secondary School, Garki, Abuja, the Nigerian capital city, deceived her husband Ejembi by telling him that she is a graduate.

Ann’s deceit came to an end when her husband wanted to enrol her in a master’s degree programme at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and needed to bring her transcript as part of the admission requirement.

Although Ann has a University Degree and NYSC discharge certificates in her possession, they were forged.

Unable to approach the University to get her transcript for master’s degree admission, she opened up to her husband when she was put under pressure.

Having confessed to her husband, Ann said she was expelled in her second semester at 100 level for exam malpractice and she could not go home and face her parents.

In order not to incur the wrath of her parents, she stayed back in school for five years, forged degree and NYSC certificates and showed them to her parents who believed she actually graduated from the university.

Ejembi who has since filed a divorce in a court told newsmen in his Bwari Abuja residence that he was deceived, and had believed the lie that his wife is a graduate not until he wanted to enrol her in a masters degrees programme at Keffi.

When Ann was asked to give an explanation on the matter, she confirmed the development but said she needs forgiveness from her husband and to accept her back as his wife.

She, however, said she deeply regrets her action.
