A 13-year-old girl who sells local food snack, Awara, was on Sunday, October 4, 2020, reportedly raped, left almost lifeless and bleeding profusely by one Ali Usman in Wadata area of Makurdi, Benue State capital.
The incidence, reported to the police by an activist, Ukan Kurugh said that the suspect asked the victim to bring him food on getting to the door, he dragged her into the room where she was brutally raped. Her scream alerted neighbours who broke into the apartment and found her in blood stains and almost lifeless.
She was taken to the hospital for treatment in which it was discovered that she lost so much blood and that her PCV was just about 19 per cent, also it was narrated that she fainted at the hospital while receiving treatment but later she recovered.
The activist is appealing to the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) and other relevant organisations to take necessary legal action in bringing Usman to justice.
“RAPE! the ugly monster is bent on destruction. will it destroy all our children or we will kill it before it does? there is yet another rape of a minor, a 13-year-old at Wadata Makurdi.
“I am using this opportunity to call on FIDA, individuals and all other concerned bodies. This case needs all the support it can get. If this is left in the hands of the girl’s family alone, there may be no case against the rapist and that will make one more monster on the loose, looking for the next available victim,” said the activist.
