Forty-four (44) national and higher national diploma students of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, including the son of a lecturer have been arrested in privately owned off-campus apartments, champion and California lodges at Sarikin Noma area of Lokoja in the Kogi state capital.
Over thirty of the students had already completed the examinations and the scripts collated to be picked up by organisers of the Kogi Polytechnic off-campus examination syndicates when luck ran out of them.
In a statement made by the A.g. Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Usman Ogbo, said, “efforts led to the arrest of some of the participants at the magic centre on Friday, November 6, 2020, who confessed to not only participated but paid N2,000 per paper.

“We were able to arrest 12 additional participants of the same magic centre who variously confirmed to their involvement.
“We were able to arrest one Mr Victor Attah, the owner of the room that was used as the magic centre and one Mr Daniel Progress, the owner of the room where scripts were kept for onward transmission.
The Acting Rector, Usman Ogbo who expressed disappointment at the involvement of some staff in some unethical practices leading to revenue leakages in the system also condemned the proliferation of Islamic religious sect on campus.
“We have also discovered the existence of some fraudulent members of staff who are making the system dry through stealing and illegal issuing of the polytechnic receipt.
Some of the students arrested explained the level of their involvement in the malpractice.
Victor Attah who is one of the students that was caught said, “when they entered my room they said that they want to do one or two arrangements there, so I freed my room for him.
Ali Ibrahim also one of the students said, he wrote for me Ibrahim and I sent the sum of N4,000 to him and the proof of the alert is on my phone.
The question on how the students get the examination papers, the answer booklets and who they usually submit the written scripts to, as well as lecturers involved in the malpractices, will remain unanswered till the institution and the security agents complete their investigation.
