On the occasion of what would have been Chadwick Boseman’s 44th birthday, Disney has debuted brand new opening titles for Black Panther as a tribute to the late actor.

Boseman died from colon cancer in August this year, having kept his 2016 diagnosis of the disease a secret from all but those closest to him.

Now, instead of the usual montage of the various stars of the Marvel movies, which is seen before each Marvel movie, the whole montage is now entirely dedicated to Boseman.

Tweeting the new credits, a message from the Marvel studio reads: “Long live the King. #WakandaForever.”

A raft of Boseman’s friends, family and fans also paid tribute to him on his birthday.

Lupita Nyong’o, who played Nakia in the 2018 movie, said: “Deeply loved, sorely missed.”

Posting video of a celebration of Boseman’s birthday on the set of Avengers: Endgame, Mark Ruffalo, aka the Incredible Hulk, added: “Thinking of your passion, love, and your light today, @chadwickboseman. Happy Birthday. Wishing we could time travel back to this moment.”

Viola Davis, who will appear alongside Boseman in his last movie, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, due to stream on Netflix next month, also paid a tribute.

Meanwhile, Boseman’s brother Kevin took to Instagram.

News emerged last week that Disney and Marvel are now set to begin filming on Black Panther 2 next summer.

How the movie will broach the death of Boseman’s King T’Challa is not yet known, but it’s been confirmed that there are now plans to recreate the late star’s likeness digitally.
