The convoy of the Zamfara State Commissioner of Security and Home Affairs, Honourable Abubakar Dauran on Monday, was caught in a crossfire between two bandit groups around Dogon Karfi, GidanJaji, in the Zurmi Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State which led to the killing of his driver on the spot.
Reports gathered that the Commissioner was returning from Katsina State where he had gone to hand over the 26 abducted minors rescued by Zamfara State Government to the Katsina State Government.
On Sunday, November 8, the Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, reportedly secured the release of 26 girls abducted from Faskari LGA of Katsina state following negotiations with the bandits by the Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs.

The states police command, when contacted, confirmed the incident, saying that the armed bandits did not confront the Commissioner and his convoy directly.
In a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, the police spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu, said the convoy was caught in the crossfire by two criminal groups.
“The government delegation led by the Commissioner of Security and Home Affairs, Honourable Abubakar Dauran was caught in a crossfire between two warring bandits groups at Dogon Karfi, GidanJaji, along Zurmi – Jibiya road, in Zurmi Local Government area of Zamfara State,” the statement said.
