A Nigerian man Dahiru Buba who trekked from Gombe to Abuja for 15 days to celebrate President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory in the 2015 general elections is facing health challenges.

The indigene of Dukku Local Government Area of Gombe State has developed serious limb pains and is seeking assistance for treatment stated that trekking in Buhari’s honour fetched him nothing but a certificate.

Daily Trust reported that Buba disclosed that life is now unbearable for him as the joint pain persists and that he can’t even afford to pay his children’s school fees. He appealed to Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State and the party’s stakeholders to come to his aid.

Buba said; “Since the time I conducted the trekking, the limb pain is growing by the day.

“I am appealing to my governor, Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State and the party leadership to help me look for medical assistance.”

In 2015 after Buhari defeated Goodluck Jonathan in the presidential election, some Nigerians decided to honour him in their own way by trekking long distances. Buba was not the only one who trekked for the president and later felt regret. One Hashimu Suleiman who also embarked on the same journey, a year after his long trip, said trekking for Buhari was his greatest mistake.
