Some suspected Fulani kidnappers yesterday attacked travellers along Ehor-Ekpoma- Auchi road by Obagie, Benin killing a vigilante who tried to resist the attack.
The heavily armed kidnappers had first attacked occupants of a commercial vehicle and ordered the driver to use it to barricade the road. An on-coming trailer driver sensing danger refused to stop. He eventually rammed into the bus and other vehicles killing some persons.
Some travellers were kidnapped and dragged into the bush in the process while a member of a vigilante group who was trying to resist the kidnappers was shot dead. The body of the brave vigilante who was killed by the kidnappers was still on the floor as at the time of this report.
The situation led to heavy traffic congestion flowing from multiple accidents as the vehicles involved were still in the middle of the road.
