A member of the Taraba state house of assembly representing Nguroje state constituency, Bashir Mohammed has been kidnapped by gunmen in the early hours today.
Residents of his area in Jalingo said the gunmen stormed the lawmaker’s house and shot sporadically before whisking him away around 1.30 am.
According to one of them, “we couldn’t sleep last night, heavy gunshots started around 1:40 am to 1:45 am as they are leaving.”
The source said that none of the family members was hurt, adding that the kidnappers forced the lawmaker into one of the two vehicles used by them.
Bashir, a member representing Nguroje Constituency is also the Chairman House Committee on Information in the Taraba state House of Assembly.
When contacted the spokesman of the Taraba police command DSP, David Misal did not respond to calls from this reporter.
