Unknown gunmen on Saturday night stormed Kuchi Community in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State and kidnapped 17 people in an operation.
Source gathered that the operation lasted for about 2 hours, and according to reports, the gunmen suspected to be bandits, were up to 50.
Amongst those abducted were the parents of the former Chairman of the local government, Mallam Yahuza Mohammed, a Medical Doctor and 2 nursing mothers with their two weeks old babies.
Another wealthy businessman in the area simply identified as Alhaji Albakala had four of his family members abducted during the tragic attack.
According to reports, there were no security operatives in the entire Kuchi community during the operation.
An eyewitness told newsmen that they called for help but the Police didn’t come to help when they most needed to be saved.
Meanwhile, the member representing the constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mr Andrew Jagaba confirmed the kidnap incident.
He, however, said that security operatives have already been mobilized to the area. He said the Police have already commenced an investigation into the matter.
Hs said, “In fact, the entire community is devastated since when the incident happened, the people are now living in fears.”
But as I speak to you now security agents have been mobilized to the community and are working on how to rescue the victims because they have not gone far with the people.
