The assertive solemn oath made by this government to combat the atrocities caused by insurgents and conquer insecurity was surely vindicated by the government’s tireless efforts in vanquishing the bloodsucking beasts during its first tenure.
Having avouched to wage a furious war against terrorism and insurgency as the government’s first priority, we can honestly say that if normalcy wasn’t restored entirely, the equilibrium state of the nation and particularly where the insecurity was at the zenith (Northeastern states) was restored to near normal as the insecurities became a tale of the ancient era. And people began to live in peace.
Like an ailment that strikes episodically, some species perhaps of the existing insurgents in disguise fled from the northeastern region to some other segments of the north to cause further mayhem by annihilating of lives and chattels. The government in turn did not rest until it had their nuisance been curtailed.
From where are the problems emanating? If the attack is witnessed in Katsina today, the wanton butchery of innocent lives shall be heard tomorrow in Zamfara, Kaduna, or any other Northern state. The questions here are: “is it that the government from the beginning had not really overcome insurgency yet gave the masses the glad tidings of so doing? Or is it just that the government vehemence is now at nadir to still defeat the mere relics of those bloodsucking beasts?”
As human beings, we must be actively mobile in order to get our day to day mundane commitments executed. But unfortunately, it is only our lives that pay the forfeit of doing so. May Allah in His infinite mercy restore normalcy to our dear nation and may He give our leaders the ability to confront this lingering insecurity.
