2021 Grammy Awards: Nigerian gov’t, APC, PDP, congratulate Burna Boy, Wizkid

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said the Grammy awards won by Burna Boy and Wizkid is a global endorsement for the Afrobeat genre of music that has propelled Nigeria’s increasing dominance of the music world.

In a statement signed by Mr Segun Adeyemi, Special Assistant to the President (Media), Office of the Minister of Information and Culture, the Minister described the much-deserved awards as a fitting reward for the persistent hard work of the duo.

According to him, the clinching of the prestigious awards by the two music stars would not only spur them to greater heights but would also serve as a source of inspiration for others.

In a related development, the two major political parties in Nigeria, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have congratulated the two singers for their success at the 63rd Grammy Awards.

Congratulating the singers, the APC said, “We celebrate Nigeria music and Afrobeat stars Damini Ogulu @burnaboy and Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun @wizkidayo on their #GrammyAwards. The best is yet to come.”

The PDP on its part said, “@OfficialPDPNig congratulates @Wizkid and @Burnaboy. Their #GRAMMY awards showcase the resilience of the Nigerian spirit. The duo has shown the capacity of the Generation-Next-Nigeria to take our nation to envious heights. Congratulations… More wins!”
