An Abuja based mother from Imo State, who is popularly known as Mama has caused the arrest of her two sons over alleged beatings and manhandling.
Mama who should be in her late 70s lost her husband sometime last year leaving her with their four grown-up children (twin ladies and two men who are married) and without a will to his properties.
A source who is friends with the family, simply identified as Tony who spoke to Neptune Prime about the development said:
“Although the husband died intestate, he made his second son the next of kin to his accounts. However, Mama went to obtain a power of attorney to operate the account with her twin daughters without informing her sons about the whole arrangements.
“Mama went ahead to move about N6.5000 000 from the account and the eldest son got the alert because he has the late father’s phone with him.
“He quickly called a family meeting and started questioning Mama’s actions which resulted in a serious argument in the family.
“The sons quickly went to get a court order to stop the operation but Mama quickly went to the police to report that the sons have threatened to kill her and that they beat and mishandled her which is an allegation according to one of the son’s wives who spoke to me,” Tony explained.
He went further to say that the police invited the sons and in the process detained them and didn’t allow them access to their phones.
“As at yesterday (Wednesday 27, 2021), they were charged to Zone 6 Magistrate Court almost immediately and the court offered to grant them bail with two sureties. I don’t really know how much bail was granted but they were only able to get one surety. They were however remanded in Suleja prison.
“We don’t really know what would have prompted all these because they are her children… your own sons, you can’t treat them like that. There might be other underlying issues of which we are not aware of but as it stands now, it’s so so funny and ridiculous”, he said.
