Ivanka Trump plans to attend President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration next week in an effort to save her political career.
Outgoing US President Donald Trump who has remained holed up inside the White House since the failed Capitol coup is understood to be up in arms about his daughter’s decision.
Democrat Biden will officially become the 46th President of the United States on 20 January and Trump has already announced he will break with tradition and snub the event.
Ivanka is hopeful an appearance at the inauguration will present her as a “good sport” and allow her to “gain future supporters”, according to a White House source.
The 39-year-old has served as an adviser to her father, 74-year-old, during his time in office, and is understood to have persuaded him to call off the rioters last Wednesday afternoon.
“Ivanka is worried that her promising political career is in jeopardy and she’s doing whatever she can to save her reputation,” the source told the Daily Mail.
However, Trump himself is said to be furious and calling for his family to stand firm behind him, describing her decision as an “insult”.
“The president told his daughter that her presence at the inauguration will cost her thousands of supporters and would be the worst decision she could ever make,” the source continues.
The inauguration clashes with the launch of Trump’s 2024 election campaign, but Ivanka is said to be happy to leave that to her dad and brother Donald Trump Jr.
The source went on to describe the situation in the White House as a “circus on steroids with Trump’s kids desperately vying for control”.
Although Trump plans to snub the inauguration he has approved an emergency declaration for Washington that lasts through 24 January after authorities warned of security threats to the swearing-in ceremony.
Trump is now facing a historic second impeachment after Democrats in the House of Representatives formally charged him with one count of “incitement of insurrection”.
House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, said yesterday she would move forward with impeaching Trump if Vice-President Mike Pence did not invoke the 25th amendment.
Either would scupper Trump’s efforts to be re-elected in four years.

In scenes that shocked the world, hundreds of Trump supporters descended on the government building last Wednesday in protest against Biden being named President.
Congress members were inside the Senate chamber, completing the official Electoral College vote count when rioters breached police barricades and began marauding through the Capitol.
Five people were killed amid the chaos, including police officer Brian Sicknick.
During the riot, Ivanka tweeted: “American Patriots any security breach or disrespect to our law enforcement is unacceptable.
“The violence must stop immediately. Please be peaceful.”
However, she later deleted the tweet when followers asked if she believed the attackers were “patriots”, adding: “Peaceful protest is patriotic. Violence is unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest terms.”
