The newly appointed Rector, Kano state Polytechnic, Dr Kabir Bello Dungurawa, has vowed to create a harmonious and transparent working relationship with the institution’s community across its various campuses in the state.
He made the statement while briefing Journalists in the early hours of Wednesday in his office.
While expressing his gratitude to Almighty and Kano state Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for giving him the opportunity to serve and witness the memorable day, Dr Dungurawa said, “Within these 100 days of my assumption into office as Rector, I held series of meetings with the leadership of staff and student’s Unions of the institution with a view to solicit for their maximum support and cooperation. And to God be the glory, this has resulted in a harmonious working relationship with all of them”.
He added that despite the challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and limited resources at disposal, his leadership has not struggled to achieve outstanding records.

Highlights of some of the achievements he enumerated includes; payment of 3 months out of 6 months inherited to casual staff amounting to Ten Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira, representing 50 percent; payment of 6,163,047.00, representing 50 percent to Part-time lecturers; payment of nine months peculiar earned allowance to Academic staff worth seventeen million, two hundred and fifty-four thousand, five hundred and sixty-one naira, twelve kobo, representing 32.7%.
In addition were the purchase and installation of 500 two-seater students furniture at School of Technology, SOT; additional 300 four-seater students furniture yet to be allocated among others.
Dr Kabir Bello Dungurawa added that in the desire to enhance sources of Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, financial support amounting to N322,000.00 was accorded to the IGR committee for their visits to sister institutions in Jigawa, Kaduna and Bauchi states with a view to studying their sources of IGR.
Dr Dungurawa further said, with regards to his 7 point agenda, he has managed to touch areas of sustenance of existing collaborations and linkages; protection of students interest with regards to lecturer-student’ relationship, speedy marking, compilation, processing and prompt release of student’s results.
“Among other achievements within the 100 days of my administration are the transformation of management meetings to E-compliance using repository systems; actualization of the complete taking over of Kano state Institute of Information Technology, Kura; identification and placement of beacons/symbols at the 65 hectares of land at Badume town allocated to us by the Governor; securing the deployment of NITDA 2020 intervention for digital Economy Center at School of Technology and above all, the receipt of a donation of 20 Desktop computers from an Ex-student and 100 E-pads from the National Communication Commission”.
Marking the meritorious developmental strides within the first 100 days in office, the Rector, finally said, in support of the existing strategies, as well as the relentless efforts of the Kano state government to curtail the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state, his administration has provided adequate safety measures in strategic positions across 6 Unit Schools of Polytechnic and at the Central Administration.
