Yobe State House of Assembly has reduced the tenure of the executive local government’s chairmen and councillors in the state.

The House reduced the tenure after the amendment of some sections in the principal Law of the Local Governments.

Shading more light on the reduction of the tenure, chairman House Committee on Local governments and chieftaincy affairs, Alhaji Ahmed Musa Dumbol, said the amended Law has reduced the tenure from twenty-four months to twenty months.

Alhaji Ahmed Musa Dumbol said the executive chairmen and councillors of the local governments shall vacate office after the expiration of the twenty months tenure in office.

  1. This is the most crook and most cruel submission by the state house of assembly. The chairen’s tenure is in real sense supposed to be extended to 4yrs like the governor and HOA members. Why reducing it to 20months? I guess it is a deliberate attempt plant their errant boys as caretakers when the duely elected ones were sent parking.
