The convoy of the Emir of Birnin Gwari, Alhaji Zubairu Jibril Mai Gwari II, was attacked by unknown gunmen in Kaduna highway, Kaduna state.
The Emir is one of the head traditional rulers who held a logical meeting with the State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, only last week when the recurring crisis of banditry ravaging the state was discussed.
In a report by newsmen, the attack occurred Tuesday evening and Umar Jibril, the Emir’s driver said that the Emir was not in the vehicle at the time the bandits struck, trying to stop the car.
“We did not stop, they targeted me since I was driving but as Allah will have it, the bullet missed my head,” Umar said.
He also stated that no casualty was recorded in the attack, but however, the vehicles were destroyed by bullets, it’s not clear yet the number of casualties from the incident although a number of persons were said to be injured.
