Gunmen on Wednesday kidnapped a staff of the FCT Administration identified as Mr. Salami Olalekan and three others in Kiyi community of Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Mr. Salami Olalekan was among those abducted by the dozens of unidentified armed men, who went from house to house kidnapping between 12 midnight and 2am Wednesday morning.

Other persons kidnapped were simply identified as a motorcycle rider, technician and taxi driver respectively.

It was gathered that the armed men had broken into residents’ homes, by tearing down the iron bars of a back window from where they took their victims on foot across grasslands towards the hills behind Kiyi community.

Reacting to the incident, the older brother of the kidnapped FCTA staff, Williams Salami, disclosed that the kidnappers had called the victim’s family demanding N50 million ransom for the release of their brother, who was kidnapped in the presence of his wife.

He added that the kidnappers did not cart away any property, except a cooking pot, ‘probably to be cooking in the bush.’

According to him, they contacted the police anti-kidnapping squad who visited the house and area, where two empty bullet shells were found on the ground.

When contacted, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Mariam Yusuf, who confirmed the incident, said the Police have launched a manhunt for the kidnappers.

“We have launched an operation to rescue the victims and apprehend the fleeing suspects”, the PPRO stated in the text.Gunmen kidnap FCTA staff, 3 others, demand N50 million ransom
