Schools shut down in Sokoto over cholera outbreak

Sokoto Government has shut down Girls’ College in Mabera due to a cholera outbreak that has killed two students already.

Dr Kulu Haruna, the Commissioner for Science and Technology, made this announcement, saying over 70 students were affected, however, only 20 are at the isolation centre presently.

Dr Haruna added that the decision to shut down the school became necessary to discuss the problem and find a solution, he also said that a great powered medical team have been extended to the school.

He further stated that the disease caused by the new borehole in the school and that after fumigating the school, and everything is back to normal then they will open the schools.
