Story from Najib SANI, Bauchi

A political group known as ‘Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed Vanguards (BAMV) has begun mobilisation of stakeholders in Bauchi State on their endorsement of the State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for president come 2023.

The group started the mobilisation with visitations to traditional rulers in the state to seek their blessings and support to the aspiration.

While at the palace of the Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman, the state coordinator of the Vanguards, Honourable Ishaq Dabo, told the monarch that their endorsement of Bala was based on his track records when he served as senator, minister, and governor.

According to them, Bala is more qualified than all other presidential hopefuls as he had experienced in the legislature, federal executive council, and State Government.

“Aside from having wealth of experience, Bala is a nationalist who can enjoy national acceptance. Recall that when late president Umaru Musa Yar’adua was incapacitated, he was the first senator that eschewed regional sentiment and advocated his making as acting president in the best interest of the country.

“And there is no doubt that he performed wonderfully when he served as a minister and now as a governor. Everyone who comes to Bauchi will realise that transformation is taking place. He has an average age and he is healthy to rule Nigeria. We, therefore, think that he is a good choice as a president come 2023”. The group said.

Responding, the emir expressed appreciation to the group for identifying with him and said that the governor is equal to the task.

He charged the group to conduct their political activities peacefully and enlighten fellow youth against violence.
