Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello on Tuesday presented a letter of appointment to the new Emir of Kagara, Ahmed Garba Gunna, as the 2nd Emir of Kagara.
Governor Sani Bello emphasised that the emergence of Garba Gunna was an act of God as he did not in any way interfere in the election process of the new Emir, pointing out that he directed the electoral college of Kagara Emirate to be given free hand to conduct the election which produced Gunna as the new Emir.

The Governor who reminded the Emir of his responsibilities said, he should rule with truthfulness, be accommodating, just to everyone, show understanding and be a father to all.
“I also expect him to remember that I did not make him the Emir but God did and that is the more reason why he should be just to everyone in the Emirate,” he said.
He equally drew his attention to the security challenges particularly in his domain and urged him to unite with the people of his Emirate even as measures are being put in place to curb the challenges.
Governor Sani Bello disclosed that he is leading about seven of his colleagues towards ending banditry and other criminal activities in the state.
He also advised the bandits and those assisting them in carrying out their nefarious acts for whatever reason, to change for the better.
Sani Bello prayed that God, who has given the Emir the throne, will equip him with the needed wisdom, protect and guide his reign to the path of success.
Meanwhile, the Governor has enjoined all Muslim faithful to use the opportunity of the new month of Ramadan to fast, pray and seek spiritual cleansing towards a better society.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mary Noel Berje, the Governor described Ramadan fasting as a soul searching exercise and a spiritual turnaround, urging the faithful to make good use of the holy month.
Governor Sani Bello also reminded the Muslim faithful to remain steadfast in imbibing the salient lessons of the Ramadan fast which are love, compassion, honesty, piety and peaceful coexistence.
While acknowledging the immense economic challenges facing the state and country, the Governor warns shylock market men and women against arbitrary hike in the prices of their commodities during or after the Ramadan fast as it is against Islamic teachings.
“The Governor felicitates with the Muslim faithful for witnessing yet another Ramadan fast and prayed that the lessons and blessings of the Holy Month will be internalized so that it positively affects our attitude and promote greater commitment to peace and unity of the country,” the statement said in part.
He also called on the Muslim faithful to pray for an end to the prevailing security challenges in the country, assuring that government will continue to do its best in securing the lives and property of the citizens.
The Ramadan fast is a month-long annual religious ritual in which Muslims are obligated to abstain from food and drinks and other luxuries from dawn to sunset.
