Ekiti monarch rescued from kidnappers den

The traditional ruler, of Ilemeso in Ekiti State, David Oyewunmi has regained freedom from the hands of his abductors.

Sunday Abutu, the Police Public Relations Officer of Ekiti State, confirmed this to newsmen on Wednesday.

The monarch was kidnapped on April 16 at his palace after gunmen jumped the fence and took him hostage, with a demand of N20 million for his release.

Sunday Abutu confirmed that it was a joint operation of both vigilantes and local security agencies that helped to rescue the monarch.

He further added that following the trauma he experienced at the hands of the kidnappers, the monarch is currently receiving medical care at a health facility in the state.
