Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

The Kano State President of the National Association of Voice of Widows and Divorces, Hajiya Altine Abdullahi has revealed why she dumped the government of President Muhammadu Buhari for Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Abdullahi disclosed this on Friday, 23 April 2021 to Neptune Prime’s correspondence in Kano that she was formally the Northwest Coordinator of Muhammadu Buhari for President but had to dump him along the line and teamed up with Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso because “he is more organised politically and has a template for the masses”.

The VOWAN president in her statement said:

“I was President Muhammadu Buhari’s coordinator Northwest when he contested on APP, ANPP and CPC Tickets by then, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was already the Governor of Kano State and I have this NGO, the Voice of Widows and Divorcees including Orphans which I am piloting when Kwankwaso decided to assist us with vehicle and money which Buhari was not willing to do.

“I dumped him and joined Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso even when he left APC to PDP and that is why up till today I am a strong supporter of Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

“When the former Governor lost his father recently, Alhaji Musa Salim Majidadin Kano, you need to see the volume of human beings that were trooping his house day and night to condole with him, because when he was governor of Kano for eight years, he touched the lives of the ordinary people especially youths that he sent to various universities outside and inside Nigeria and most of them were from a poor family.

“Those he trained both in and out of the country are today doctors, nurses, pilots, biochemists, midwives and what have you. This is what we never witnessed in the history of democratic government in Kano. “The only time such a thing happened was when Rimi was the Governor of Kano State, apart from transforming Kano into a model city.

“Kwankwaso also established two brand new universities, one is that of Science and Technology in Wudil and Northwest University now Maitama Sule University.

“I am, therefore, not surprised when some people are calling for political reconciliation between Kwankwaso and Ganduje, most of those in political office from Kano since 1999 are all products of the Kwankwasiyya Political Movement.

“Late Rimi was governor of Kano State and left a political structure, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau was governor of Kano and left a Political Structure, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was governor and he is the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Governor Ganduje who is the incumbent governor has no political structure and most of those loyal to him are followers of Kwankwaso in the night but loyal to Ganduje during day time.

“We in Kano will not forget Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso easily, especially the novel idea of the Hisbah Mass Marriage Programme. He in conjunction with Kano introduced the Hisbah Board in which young men and women that could not finance their weddings were assisted with food, money and even employment so that they can settle down and be responsible members of society. This government has stopped that scheme; in fact, Kwankwaso is continuing one way or the other with his own money because today he is neither a senator nor a governor.

“The APC caretaker chairman in Kano, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas is our main problem in Kano; he is the one making it difficult for people to broker peace between Kwankwaso and Ganduje.

“You were very much with us in 2019 when our candidate Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf of PDP defeated Ganduje but they fraudulently annulled the election and called it inconclusive, well, 2023 is coming and Abba will win again while we, supporters of Kwankwaso will encourage him to contest for the presidency on PDP tickets even though he is under serious pressure to defect to APC and run with Asiwaju Tinubu as Vice President.

“Without Kwankwaso, no candidate south of the country will win votes of Northwest; forget about Tambuwal’s antics and other fifth columnists in the region”, Abdullahi revealed.
