The story of demolishing business premises and markets in Kaduna State is just beginning as the state’s Governor, Malam Nasiru El-Rufa’i according to reliable sources is contemplating the complete demolishing of Kinkinau Quarters by Nnamdi Azikwe bye-pass, on the ground that the area belongs to Kaduna State Government.

A competent source from the Kaduna Government House, told Neptune Prime that the Governor has confided in some top government officials that Kinkinau Area was actually given out to late Kaduna based transporter and aviation magnate, Alhaji Ahmadu Chanchangi to build an Islamic University, so since he didn’t do so, Kaduna State Government wants the land back or in the alternative, the Chanchangi family must build the said University.

According to reports, the State Government has demolished the second part of Royal Market Kaduna where millions were lost by traders because the demolition took place in the night.

Similarly, old Panteka Market and some part of Kaduna Polytechnic, Tudun Wada was already pulled down, leaving thousands of people jobless.

At the last count, the State Government demolished close to 24 markets including Kasuwan Barchi without compensation, and there is a move in top gear to demolish Unguwan Shanu Market and New Panteka on the Nnamdi Azikwe Express Way.

Since the El-Rufa’I’s administration started demolishing structures in Kaduna, many people have died out of frustration while others have gone mad, yet the exercise is still continuing at an alarming rate.

The Governor was quoted as saying that he was elected to work for the entire people of Kaduna State and not only civil servants, that was why last week, close to 7,000 workers were sacked without following due process.

Investigations by Neptune Prime shows that most of those retired from service by this government and the thousands of teachers sacked two years ago are yet to get their benefits, some have died while others are living under harsh conditions of life without a hope of getting a remedy.

It could be recalled that the Governor in a recent media chat revealed that the state government is getting more than four billion nairas monthly from the federation’s account and is also paying more than four billion nairas monthly as a salary, even though it is generating another four billion nairas internally but stated that the money is not enough for its ambitious projects.
