Assistant Director, Rural Employment Promotion Department of the directorate, Inuwa Adamu disclosed this while briefing journalists Wednesday on the programme.

He explained that the training was initiated under the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS) initiated by NDE saying the programme was in line with the Federal Government’s policy on agriculture for employment, food sufficiency, and wealth creation in the country.

The assistant director further explained that the purpose is to inculcate the trainees with modern methods of agricultural production, adding that the practical aspect of the training would be based on cattle and sheep fattening.

“This is a scheme developed from our national head office and it entails training unemployed youths from dropouts up to tertiary level.

“It is aimed at making them imbibe modern methods of agricultural production. We are going to train them on animal and crop production” he said.

Also, Mr Sulaiman Abubakar, Head of Department, Special Public Work, NDE, Bauchi, said that the Directorate, under its Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS), had selected 40 unemployed youths to be engaged in environmental beautification training exercises for three months.

He said the beneficiaries would be effectively engaged in landscaping, interlocking, and Plaster of Paris (POP).
