Four suspected kidnappers were arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command, for kidnapping, extortion and threatening of citizens.
DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the spokesperson of the command, stated this on Wednesday, while also adding that they recovered the sum of N86,000, three single barrel guns, sim cards and letters of threat.
DSP Nguroje said, “On the 9/4/2021 and 11/4/2021, operatives of the Command attached to Gombi Division received a complaint from a good Samaritan, saying residents of Wuro Garba and Lugga Villages of Hong Local government area had received separate letters threatening them to pay one Million Naira each or risk being kidnap.”
After investigations were made, one Adoneja Dauda, 30, a resident of Hubbard Village, Maiha Local Government was arrested as the prime suspect that sent threat letters to extort the innocent, which also led to the arrest of three other suspects, Musa Saidu, 26, Manu Hussein, 25, and Hammadu Bello, 22, all residents of Garwayel Village, Hong, Hong Local government.
Prior to their arrest, the suspects extorted the sum of N150,000 from one of their victims, Alhaji Dauda Hassan, a resident of Barkaji Village, Hong Local government with intimidation to kidnap him.
The suspects, sometime in March 2021, kidnapped Alhaji Yahaya Buba, Alhaji Sure and Alhaji Muhammed Bello, all of Konto Village, Gombi local government.
He added that the four suspects will be charged to court on completion of investigations.
