Neptune Prime has confirmed that Geidam, headquarters of Geidam Local Government in Yobe State is currently being attacked by Boko Haram insurgents.Geidam in Yobe currently under Boko Haram attack

Alhaj Musa Mamman, a resident, who spoke to our reporter said the insurgents came in without notice and that “we all of a sudden started hearing gunshots all over the town”, he said.

They are said to have come in their numbers and in about ten Toyota Hilux through the Damasak Axis of the town.

While saying that the insurgents have “this year attacked the town not less than 17 times to gather food stuffs and other necessities and leave in the dead of the night”, lamented that after that soldiers stationed in the town will then come out and claim to have “repelled them.

Geidam has an army outpost but that has never dissuaded the insurgents from attacking the town at will.

Alhaji Mamman told Neptune Prime that an army jet is now hovering over the town while residents have all locked themselves in their houses.

Alhaji Mamman complained to Neptune Prime that the soldiers “have just set up camp at the Kagliari and Bukarti entrances of the town while Boko Haram always come in from the opposite entrances, the Damasak Axis bordering Niger Republic and Bumsa”.

Neptune Prime gathered that the insurgents went straight to the army camp and engaged the soldiers in a shootout.
