Gunmen at 9:30 pm on Sunday invaded a low-cost housing estate in the Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State, shooting sporadically, kidnapping women, including a pregnant woman and minors.
Mohammed Jalige, the spokesperson of Kaduna State Police Command, confirmed the attack, adding that only four persons were kidnapped while vowing to rescue all the victims alive.
According to a report by Daily Nigerian, a source said that “they operated for about four hours before security operatives arrived at the community.
“Unfortunately, most of the men were either out for Tarawih prayers or had not come back from work. They then decided to herd away women and young children,” the source disclosed.
“They shot four persons, the victims are now receiving medical attention at Gambo Sawaba General Hospital,” the source added.
He further added that three of the 70 gunmen that came on motorcycles and Kekenapep tricycles and encircled the community, were arrested.
Meanwhile, two housewives and children at Kofar Kuyambana’s low cost in the Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State was also reported to have been kidnapped by gunmen.
A resident in the area, Malam Garba Jumare, confirm the kidnap, adding that the kidnappers invaded the area and attacked a Customs officer house at 10: pm on Sunday.
He further added that the wife, Maryam Bala Ibrahim, was kidnap, alongside her three children but was later abandoned on their way and fled with the mother.
“The Police and men of KADVIS have really tried. They showed that they are professionals. We must thank them, two of the bandits were arrested in the night” he said.
