The Kogi State Police Command on Wednesday said it arrested three suspects who specialise in robbing Point of Service (POS) operators.
The Commissioner of Police (CP), in a statement through the command’s spokesman, William Aya, said operatives of the Operation Puff Adder II attached to Iyara Division arrested the three following an attack on a POS operator in the area.
Those arrested include, Gideon Zaccus 45-year-old, Medupin Joseph 24-year-old, and Afolabi David 24-year-old.
The statement reads: “Following the directives of the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, Ede Ayuba Ekpeji, to all the Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, operational and tactical commanders as well as intelligence officers to secure public places and guaranteed a safe and secure environment for all.
“The Operatives of Operation Puff Adder II attached to Iyara Division received a report that on 13 April 2021 at about 2200hrs, three armed men invaded a POS shop at Ogidi, attacked the operator, inflicted injury on him, and forcefully collected an unspecified amount of money from him.
“The operatives promptly swung into action through an intelligence-led operation; trailed the suspects to their hideout, and they were arrested. Items recovered from them include one single barrel gun and phones.”
He said the suspects will be arraigned in court on completion of an investigation.
