Katsina Police Command has ordered the ban of the annual Tashe festival activities in the state due to security reasons.
In a statement by the spokesman of the command, SP Gambo Isah, “It has been observed that unscrupulous criminal elements otherwise known as “KAURAYE” are taking advantage of the season to perpetrate criminal activities such as armed robbery, extortion, housebreaking, and theft.
“However, the Command hereby warned all parents to look after their wards as any person found covering under TASHE to commit a crime will be arrested and dealt with in accordance with the extant laws of the state”.
SP Isah noted that the Commissioner of Police Katsina state Command, CP Sanusi Buba, psc, felicitates with the good people of the state on this auspicious holy month of Ramadan and urges them to always cooperate with security agencies and report any suspicious persons to security agencies.
Tashe is a form of entertainment or play that usually starts during the 10th of Ramadan by youths and children who dress in traditional and caricature attires and go around the house to house to put smiles on people’s faces.
