David Oyewumi, the traditional ruler of Ilemeso Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Thursday, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen from the palace.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, Sunday Abutu, confirmed this to Channels Television on Friday, he explained that the gunmen climbed the palace fence, shooting sporadically then took the monarch.
The police are still on the lookout, leaving no stone unturned to find the monarch.
Meanwhile, last Friday, another Ekiti monarch, Ewu Ekiti in the Ilejemeje Local Government Area of the state, Adetutu Ajayi, was shot by unidentified gunmen on his way to a neighbouring town in Osi Local Government Area.
Ajayi is still in the hospital receiving medical care, while the perpetrators are still on the loose.
