Story from Kenneth AFOR, Lagos

As the Federal Government of Nigeria is making frantic efforts to provide infrastructures for its citizens, some scrupulous individuals have vandalised several sections on the Itapke-Warri rail track, along the Warri-Itakpe standard gauge line.

The vandals were said to have cut the rail track around kilometre 30 Adogo, Kogi State section of the rail.

According to reports, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) discovered the incident two days ago.

The managing director/CEO, the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Engr. Fidet Okhiria, who confirmed the incident, said the train is still being operated as there is an alternative.

“The incident happened two days ago. But we are still in operation because we have an alternative,” he said.

The rail project was commissioned by the Federal Government in September 2020.
