The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) has called on all Nigerians, regardless of ethnic, religious or geopolitical differences to unite behind their great party in order to put Nigeria on the path to regaining its lost glory.
This was contained in a communique jointly signed by the Chairperson of the party, Professor Sule Bello, the Secretary, Malam Bashir Bello alongside three members, Honourable Godwin Kalu, Rev. Dr Abanon Khua, and Honourable Gambo Usman.
The communique which was issued at the end of the 2nd National Delegates Conference (NDC) of the PRP held at TeeJay hotel, Zaria, Kaduna State, from Friday 28th May to Saturday 29th May 2021, was attended by delegates from all 36 states of the federation as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in addition to members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and various other party members, supporters, elders and other stakeholders.
The party stated that it the only ideologically oriented political party that is built on a clearly defined foundation of leading the country along the path of independent development, unity, nation-building and the quest for the common prosperity of all Nigerians as well as the common protection of their civil, human and citizenship rights in accordance with our Constitution.
PRP while recognising that the deplorable state of the nation is the consequence of bad governance and misrule by the ruling parties who have survived by encouraging divisive conflicts, endemic corruption, looting of state resources and the general mismanagement of the social, economic and political fortunes of Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment and dedication to serving as a party leading the struggle of the ordinary, poor and oppressed people of Nigeria for salvation from the exploitative, and oppressive, conditions under which they have lived over the years.
The Party who resolved that the Federal Republic of Nigeria is at the crossroads of either remaining under the grip of the unpatriotic, corrupt and retrogressive forces that have been responsible for ruining the social, economic and political fortunes, as well as potentials of Nigeria pushing the country to the precipice of national disintegration or teeming up with progressive elements in the struggle to set our country free from the stranglehold of the political opportunists who have nearly run the nation aground said:
“The two parties that have successively ruled Nigeria under the 4th Republic, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressive Congress (APC) are a conglomeration of retrogressive elements united by the collective pursuit of self-serving power and illegally acquired wealth thereby continuously raping state resources. In other words, the APC is not fundamentally different from the PDP in the self-serving manner they dominate the nation’s political system.
“As Nigeria inches closer to 2023 Presidential and General Elections, we call on Nigerians to vote for a meaningful change by supporting the candidates of the People’s Redemption Party in all elections.
“We reject the arbitrary manner the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has gone about deregistering political parties which amount to the denial of human and democratic rights of Nigerians to freedom of association. It further amounts to the deliberate disenfranchisement of Nigerian citizens.
The 2nd National Delegates Conference (NDC) of the PRP which has undertaken to pursue a process of national reconciliation and comprehensive reorganization of its party structures from the grassroots to Local Government, State and National levels has resolved to address the challenges and internal crises facing the party that have led to litigations and embark on fence-mending measures aimed at uniting all loyal members of the party. The NDC hereby advises political opportunists seeking to hijack the party in order to satisfy their selfish objectives to pitch their tents elsewhere as there is no room for them in the PRP.
The Party which rejected the calls by some ill-motivated and misled organizations, for the breakup of Nigeria, insisted on the need for unity at the levels of Nigeria and the African region, as a major basis for social, political and economic development.
The PRP which noted with concern that some elements are claiming to be holding so-called congresses and conventions in the name of the party advised those involved in aiding, and abetting, these illegal activities to desist from doing so in their own interests and called on members of the party at all levels to continue working towards building, unifying and promoting the fortunes of the party, under the leadership of Professor Sule Bello, on the basis of its principled legacies, vision and mission.
At the end of the 2nd National Delegates Conference, participants expressed appreciation to stakeholders and elders from the nation in general, and the good people of Zaria in particular, for the warm reception accorded the delegates to the Conference.
