Senator Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna lawmaker has raised alarm over the alleged abduction of people along the Kaduna-Abuja road.

The former lawmaker who took to his Twitter account on Friday evening to raise the alarm said the bandits blocked the expressway.

He said many people are making a fast u-turn in the face of the gunshots.

“I have just got a call that Bandits have blocked the Kaduna Abuja road in between Jere and Katari village in this broad daylight.

“Scores of people were kidnapped while many have made a fast u-turned in the face of gunshots,” he wrote.

Reports also affirmed the possibility of heavy casualties including deaths as the bandits operated freely without the intervention of soldiers that were deployed to the troubled road to contain incessant attacks.

Friday’s surprise attack took many commuters unaware due to the drastic reduction of attacks on the busy road in recent times. As it is, the assurances by the government about restoring safety in the highly unsecured area has been put into question.

Recall that early this week angry youths barricaded the Abuja-Kaduna in anger over recent kidnapping of about 30 people.
