Oshodi Mayhem: Matter under investigation – CP Odumosu

The Lagos State Police Command has said that the Thursday morning fracas at the Oshodi area between personnel of the Nigerian Army and hoodlums is under investigation.

It was reported that soldiers took over the area to engage the hoodlums following the alleged killing of an Air Force personnel by the hoodlums.

Residents and traders in the area ran for safety, many vehicles, especially commercial buses were destroyed, and some persons were assaulted by the aggrieved security operatives.

Also, some residents heading to work were trapped in the ensuing violence, while students head back home.

But the Lagos State Police Command said normalcy has returned to the area after the clash between soldiers and hoodlums.

Command’s spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi said the police were aware of the conflict that occurred at Cappa Park/Mosafejo Oshodi at 7 am.

“Normalcy has been restored to the area, as the matter is under investigation. We urge Lagosians to go about their lawful businesses in the area and in the state in general.

“No cause for alarm. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu has ordered that intensive patrol be emplaced in the area,” he said.

In a Twitter engagement monitored by Neptune Prime niece (@emeraldd_) to the deceased Air Force whose name is Kayode Ajayi on her Twitter handle said she was with her uncle who came to visit her at Ikorodu a few days before he was killed.

According to her, Ajayi had a confrontation with the bus driver and conductor while heading back to the barracks and when they got to the last bus stop he denied alighting from the bus and taken to an unknown destination where he was killed.
