Story from Kenneth AFOR, Lagos
The Enugu State Police Command has launched a full-scale manhunt on suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) over the death of Justice Stanley Nnaji, a former Judge of the Enugu State High Court who was murdered in broad daylight on Sunday in the state.
A video circulating online shows some armed men pulling the man from his Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), shoot at him, leaving him on the road and drove off with his car.
The incident occurred along the Ebeano Tunnel, Enugu, at about 5 pm.
A statement released by ASP Daniel Ndukwe, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), said the victim was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by doctors on duty and deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.
Ndukwe added the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, has vowed that no stone would be left unturned in fishing out perpetrators of the heinous crime.
The police boss has also called on residents of the State to remain law-abiding, vigilant and assist the police with useful information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of the assailants.
