Friends of the President Muhammadu Buhari have donated over 30 trucks carrying bags of rice to the citizens of Bauchi State.
Former Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, who facilitated the donation to the state made this known, Wednesday, while flagging off the distribution of the foodstuffs at ‘Double 4 Centre’ Bauchi.
Represented by the member representing Bauchi Local Government federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi, the former Speaker said the gesture was meant to bring succour to the people of the state in this fasting month of Ramadan.
He said the group tagged ‘Friends of Buhari’ consists of farmers, business merchants and politicians who are lovers of the president and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, Bauchi is the second home state of the president considering his popularity among the people of the state and the support he received there in the past elections.
“These items were facilitated by the former Speaker House of Representatives, Dogara, to the people of Bauchi State. He nominated me and three other people to head the distribution committee.
Also speaking, the person in charge of the distribution and storage of the foodstuffs Honourable Salisu Zakari, said that the rice would be distributed to people who would be drawn from all polling units across the state and religious centres and parties, saying the distribution committee would also ensure that deserving people benefit from the gesture.
He explained that the distribution would begin from the people with disability who are more vulnerable members of the society.
He lauded Dogara for facilitating the donation to the state and urged him to bring more intervention to the state.
