Kano State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Kwankwasiyya branch may witness a serious crack if care is not taken as there are very strong reports that former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is contemplating the possibility of dropping Engineer Abba Kabir Abba Gida Gida from contesting for the governorship in 2023.

In 2019, the PDP Kwankwasiyya Chapter faced serious crack when Kwankwaso decided to appoint his inlaw Engineer Abba Kabir as the governorship candidate of the party, leaving front line runners like Engineer Suleiman Bichi, Architect Aminu Dabo, Salisu Sagir Takai, Dr Inusa Dangwani, Alhaji Adamu Garko and host of others even though Kwankwaso was able to manage the crisis and PDP almost won the governorship in Kano even though the election was initially declared inconclusive.

A senior member of the Kwankwaso Political Movement told our correspondent in Kano, Saleh Inuwa, that those aggrieved over Engineer Abba’s choice teamed up with Ganduje’s APC and caused the so-called inconclusive election which almost threw Kano into a state of turmoil, and since then, most of these senior politicians are yet to return to Kwankwaso’s fold.

Last week, former Chief of Staff and later Commissioner for Water Resources to Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso when he was governor, Inusa Dangwani led a powerful delegation to Kwankwaso that comprise Bello Danbata, Zainab Audu Bako and a host of others to complain to Kwankwaso that Abba has become too rigid and uncompromising as such, he should be dropped and replaced with Inusa Dangwani for the 2023 governorship.

Kwankwaso’s response at the occasion has clearly signalled that he may take a second look at Abba Gida Gida’s governorship ambition because he and his running mate Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam are busy campaigning for 2023 without getting approval from the leader of the party which is Kwankwaso.
