Detectives have arrested a man on suspicion of murder after a 51-year-old man was found dead at a house in Walsall.

Officers were called to a property on Broad Lane, Bloxwich, at around 10:15 am following concerns for the welfare of the victim.

The 51-year-old was confirmed dead at the scene with a post mortem set to take place to establish his cause of death.

West Midlands Police arrested a 24-year-old suspect, who remains in custody for questioning.

Speaking to the Express and Star, a neighbour said of the victim: “I’d met him a few times when we were drinking in the Robert Peel pub, so I’m really sad to find out that he’s died.

“It’s also a bit of a shock to see all this police out here, but I hope it’s nothing serious”
Another nearby resident added: “I’ve got to say I’m really shocked because I saw him the other day and he seemed fine.

“He’s also younger than me, so it kind of brings it home.”

Forensic officers were seen going in and out of a property in Bloxwich on Monday.

Cops have confirmed that the man arrested is known to the victim, and have called it a “domestic incident”.

Detective Inspector, Laura Harrison at West Midlands Police said: “This is now an active murder investigation and we’re working to establish the full circumstances of how this man sadly died.

“Following our initial enquiries, we detained a man on suspicion of murder in the Bloxwich area last night and at this stage we believe this is domestic-related.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and I’d urge anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.
“You can message us on Live Chat through our website or call 101, quoting log 1125 from 24 May.”
