Nura Musa Inuwa is a 35-year-old who was born in Gwamaja Quarters of Kano Metropolis. He attended Masaka Special Primary School and Gwamaja II Secondary School, in 2007 he ventured into Hausa music mostly composing songs for wedding, love songs and films.
He is so successful in his chosen career that today at the age of 35, Nura Inuwa is not only rich but he is virtually a household name in most Hausa communities in the North. In most cases, grooms insist that it is only this 35-year-old lanky black ebony musician who is happily married that will compose songs for their wedding entertainment.
Having recorded successful songs like Aisha Humaira, Raidai, Zurfin Ciki, and a host of others which according to him has lost count of them and has now set up AB-NUR multimedia on Zoo Road, Kano where he is into high budget film production. So far, he has produced over ten successful films including Aisha Humaira, Salma, Basma, and the rest in most of these films Nura featured prominent A-grade actors and actresses like Ali Nuhu, Nafisa Abdullahi, Sadiq Sani Sadiq, Jamila Nagudu, Adam Zango and other prominent faces in Kannywood and the returns from these films according to him are highly impressive.

Nura Inuwa spoke with Neptune Prime’s correspondent, Saleh Inuwa during the weekend in Kano in his AB-NUR media office located off Zoo Road Kano. According to him, he had just returned from the Niger Republic where he went to perform in high society weddings.
This 35-year-old singer and producer also has a sad story to tell about 10 years ago. He was called by an unknown person around 9 – 10 pm for a business discussion and the person ended up pouring acid on Nura’s face which almost rendered him blind, though he can now perfectly see he is always in black dark glasses.

Neptune Prime: Mallam Nura tell us a bit about your life?
Nura: Well I am 35-years-old. I was born in Gwamaja Quarters of Kano metropolis, I attended Masaka Special Primary School and Gwamaja II Secondary School. Then I started singing for a living.
NP: Why singing instead of acting since you are young, talented and handsome?
Nura: Paused, long laughter, well I am somebody who believes in destiny and my destiny is to be a singer. To sing cool and soul touching music for society and for weddings. I also compose songs for film producers, I started singing in the year 2007 and honestly, I don’t have a role model. It is just God-given talent, so far, I have successful songs like Raidai, Zurfin Ciki, and the famous Aisha Humaira. I have many of them in the market and most of them are successful, when I reach my peak as a singer I will retire for others to continue. That is why I started venturing into film production.
NP: Tell us about your marital status?
Nura: I am married.
NP: Tell us your saddest moment and what you achieved through singing and film production?
NP: Let me start with the better side of my profession. I am successful, at least I am comfortable in life, I am not paying rent, I have good vehicles to use, I wear and eat what I want. Financially I am not complaining but most importantly, I am a star well accepted by my fans and I still have a long way to go but I hope to retire when am still popular and active so that others will take after me. I have many people working for me some are depending on me, for their source of living. As you can see this alone is not a mean achievement.
NP: About 10-years-ago, you almost lost your eyes when some wicked people poured acid on your face. Tell us a bit about that incident?
Nura: Well after it happened I heard a lot of stories, some said it was ladies that I refuse to accept their love advances that attempt to destroy me. This is not true, at the time the incident happen, I don’t even have a girlfriend, and my female admirers then were few more than what I am witnessing today. So the story is this, one day somebody called me about 9-10 in the night and said he was from Abuja and came to Kano purposely to see me so that we can discuss the song he wants me to compose for his upcoming wedding. He told me he will make a deposit that night and will send me the balance later through my bank account, he described a location for me to meet him so that I can collect the deposit. When I reached there, I saw a light but there was no building then I called him on phone and he said he is already close to me I should turn and meet him. Immediately I turned my face, somebody holding a Jerry-can full with acid poured it on my face and took off, up till now there was no arrest and only the person that did it that knows his motive I don’t know him and one thing I know is that I will never forgive him because he almost rendered me blind.
NP: What happened next?
Nura: I was admitted to Murtala Muhammed Hospital for one month for treatment and surgery later I continued visiting National Eye Center Kaduna to restore my sight. Thank God I am what you are seeing now in dark glasses and traces of the acid burn on my face. But honestly, I am very grateful to God that I am seeing perfectly and my face is 90% okay.
NP: You don’t sing for politicians Why? Don’t you have those you admired?
Nura: I have a principle, if I like you, as a politician, all I will do is to vote for you when you are contesting an election if you want me to sing for you, it’s business we discuss you pay me and I sing for you. Because of my experience in life, I am somebody that is soft and sympathetic to people’s plight so I prefer songs that will be soul-touching to entertain my fans. But of course, I admire some politicians including President Muhammadu Buhari.
NP: Do you have a Girlfriend in Kannywood and can you marry from Kannywood?
Nura: No, I don’t have a girlfriend in Kannywood and I have never given it a thought to marry from Kannywood. We live like one family here, we respect each other a lot especially those that featured in my films and other engagements but honestly, I don’t ask my female colleagues for anything apart from business.
NP: What do you want to be remembered for?
Nura: I want to be remembered as a successful producer and singer, a happy family man, a person that fear God and always accept God’s will like those who tried to render me blind today, by the grace of God, I am still in good shape and it even became a blessing for me. I became popular I gain more sympathy and am sure my God will protect me till I die.
