Dr Rilwanu Mohammed, the Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, has confirmed the death of 42 persons as a result of Cholera, while 2,874 have been affected by the disease.
Dr Rilwanu Mohammed disclosed this in a report with The Guardian on Friday.
Sequel to the report released on June 12, that 17 persons died from the outbreak, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed released another report on Friday that additional five persons have lost their lives.
According to him, the death toll has risen to 42 in Bauchi; the state capital alone recorded the highest number of cases with 2,185 cases with 22 deaths, while Toro Local Government has 212 cases and eight deaths.
Others are Ningi LGA -92 cases with two deaths; Dass- 100 with three deaths; Misau- 57 with four deaths and Tafawa Balewa- 102 and four deaths. Rilwanu said that the disease has spread to 15 out of the 20 local government areas.
Former Commissioner of Health, Dr Aliyu Maigoro, in May told journalists that 20 persons died of the disease while over 300 persons were admitted to different hospitals across the state.
