Story From: Sa’adatu MAINA, Damaturu.
As the 2021 raining season sets in, Fika and Maluri Communities in Yobe State have appealed to Governor Mai Mala Buni to approve funds for the construction of the Fika-Maluri 22 kilometer road to alleviate the sufferings of the people.
Concerned citizen, Ibrahim Adamu who spoke to Newsmen in Maluri town revealed that the Communities deserve a sense of belonging in the state and County.
He noted that Fika Local Government Area which was created by the General Ibrahim Babangida military regime in 1989 had remained without any motorable road and other social amenities.
He stressed that the rehabilitation of Fika-Maluri road would enable the Communities, Fika local government, Yobe State Government and Nigeria benefit from the vast agricultural produce being cultivated in the area.
“The construction of the road would engender economic, social and political developments within the vast agricultural Communities in Yobe State”.
He added that the travel time from Fika to Maluri would also be reduced and thousands of jobs would be created and enhance accessibility to avalanche of economic activities.
“The annual devastating floods in the area would be controlled through adequate water channels that will arise from the construction of medium and large sized bridges on the route among other tangible and intangible benefits”.
