Maryam Abdulsalam Jankunne reigned in Kannywood at a time. The former wife of Sani Danja Mansura Isah was also at her peak. Sani Danja at that time was confused in choosing which one of them to marry, it reached a stage where they wanted to do a ballot but Maryam Jankunne decided to opt-out of the relationship and allow Sani Danja to marry Mansura Isah.

Though the 13-years-old marriage of Mansura Isah and Sani Danja broke up recently, the relationship was blessed by a girl and three boys. All of them are already acting in Kannywood, but they are staying with their mother after the collapse of the marriage because she is insisting that it is only under her that they will get proper training.

EXCERPTS OF THE INTERVIEW

Neptune PrimeMaryam, you are looking healthy and robust, one must comment on your husband?

Maryam: Saleh, you have a way of easing tension, we are in a global world and there is no way when my marriage was broken that you upon all people is not aware, if you want to hear it from me, then the truth is my marriage is no more, it has packed up.

NP: I remember the sacrifice you made by allowing Mansura Isah to marry Sani Danja, at a time, you were in a passionate relationship with him, now he is free while you are also free, are we expecting the two of you to get married?

Maryam: This question for God sake suppose to be for Sani, not me. Yes we had a good relationship in the past, meaning we were lovers, yes I am now a divorcee, Sani too, his marriage has packed up though I am not really happy because Mansura is my friend, and who told you that we are still going out. For now, I have to put marriage into serious prayers.

NP: How many children did you have with your former husband and why did your marriage pack up because you are known to be a very patient woman?

Maryam: Well, we have a boy and a daughter, even when I married my former husband, he was already an old man and people even accused me of marrying him because of money, I am now into businesses here and there, I am also into politics.

NP: Kano is under APC government and Ganduje also appointed Kannywood members into his government, what do you have to say here?

Maryam: Do you know former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso? That’s our political leader in Kano, Abba Gida Gida is our Governorship candidate and we are praying for him to be Governor of Kano State in 2023.

NP: When are you coming back to acting?

Maryam: Very soon, but I will be selective, I am not coming to the industry because of money. At least I am comfortable at my own level so whoever wants me to act for him, he must come with a decent script, not what we use to see recently. Kannywood is turning into Nollywood, so if by the grace of God things go the way I want, I can even be a producer myself and pray also to get somebody that will marry me and love me for life with my two children, though their father is in control of them.
