Tight security as Buhari arrived Maiduguri on Thursday, 17th June 2021

As President Muhammadu Buhari and some Nigerian service chiefs arrive Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State on Thursday morning. It’s been revealed that there is a heavy presence of security operatives in the state.

Buhari and his entourage were received by the state governor, Babagana Zulum, immediately after the presidential jet landed at the Nigerian Air Force wing of the Maiduguri International Airport around 10 am.

Governor Babagana Zulum had in a statement on Wednesday, said, “President, Muhammadu Buhari, will be coming to Borno State on Thursday, the 17th of June, 2021.

“The President is coming to appraise security situation in the northeast, during which he will commission some of the developmental projects executed by the state government.

“The President will also commission the first phase of 10,000 houses which he generously approved and funded, for the resettlement of IDPs and refugees.”

President Buhari last visited Borno state on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, and a crowd of angry residents booed him as his convoy was driving through Maiduguri, the state capital.

The president was in the northeastern state to pay a condolence visit, following a Boko Haram attack in the state.

Although movements were restricted in some areas of Maiduguri for security reason, people still came out in large number to welcome the president.
