Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

An elder statesman and former Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Professor Ango Abdullahi said the North has completely lost out in the Buhari Presidency, as such it has no option but to put all its egg in one basket to ensure that power does not leave the North in 2023.

The zoning principle which people like former President Ibrahim Babangida forced PDP to inject in its constitution so that the southwest will produce the president in the 1992 Presidential Elections to please the Yorubas because of the criminal annulment of June 12 is completely unconstitutional and the 2019 presidential election has proved that the North has the population to retain power in 2023.

In the 2019 presidential elections, Lagos with about 6 million registered voters did not give President Buhari up to one million votes, against smaller states like Katsina, Yobe, Borno, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kebbi and the other Northern States that gave the president close to one million votes or above each. As such, the North will insist and galvanize its people to retain the presidency, if possible, dump both PDP and APC and sponsor a popular candidate on a new party platform.

The coming of Buhari as president is one of the worst things that has ever happened to the corporate north. The north, especially ordinary northerners put more than high expectations in the Buhari project but today after six years in office, the north has become a jungle. Our industries are still out of production, the famous Kaduna Peugeot Automobile Company is still closed, NNDC is limping, Bank of North is completely closed, no job anywhere in the North, what we have in abundance is poverty, disease, hunger, massive kidnapping, insecurity, yet the president has never bothered about northerners that are being killed in their hundreds.

According to Ango Abdullahi, all efforts by northern elders to put before the president a comprehensive proposal that will revive the north when he came in 2015 was not successful. He closed his doors against all those that will advise him on how to revive most of the collapsed industries in the north. Today, under this government, northerners lost thousands of innocent people more than when Boko Haram was at its peak and to make matters worse, he has allowed the Governor of Central Bank to remain in the south.

Ango Abdullahi who is the chairman of Northern Elders’ Forum and a District Head of Yakawada, Giwa Local Government told Neptune Prime’s correspondent, Saleh Inuwa, when he visited him during the weekend in Zaria said that if the North allows power to shift to the south in 2023, after 8-years of Yoruba Presidency, it will move to Southeast. They will govern for 8 years then it will go to the south-south for 8 years and before it will return to the north, the entire region must have collapsed or be overtaken by insurgents and communal crisis and mistrust will be the order of the day.

Similarly, the Elder Statesman noted that the Buhari Administration will face a comprehensive probe after leaving office because Buhari promised to stop the subsidy. Today his government paid close to 2 trillion on petroleum subsidy, he promised to return PHCN to NEPA, today we are still with PHCN that is not functioning, and on daily basis, you read reports of cabals in the government that are stealing billions. If the president is sincere, the EFCC Chairman has been telling us that he recovered billions if not trillions of naira, where is the money, or which projects were executed with the money.

I can tell you for sure, that after Buhari leaves office, most of his cabinet members will be guests of the EFCC. We in the North are seriously regretting bringing this government into power, it has today become a curse to the North, and if we make a mistake of allowing power to shift, I can see the country breaking up, with southwest going its way, south-east with south-south going their way, leaving the north an abandoned area without oil, companies, entrepreneurs, and religious crisis will completely dominate our daily lives. I can tell you that if Buhari does not drastically develop the North in the next 4-years he himself will find it difficult to move freely among our people after leaving office.
